Shri Veerbhadhreshwar Temple, is situated in the holy Shri Kshetra Yadur, on the banks of river Krishna in Belagavi District, Karnataka, since its inception 800 years ago. It’s located approx. 94 km from Belgaum & approx. 65 km from Kolhapur, Maharashtra. It is dedicated to Shri Veerabhadra, a fierce manifestation of the Lord Shiva in Hinduism. Shri Veerabhadra & Bhadrakalamma are the main god & goddess of this temple. Temple was founded by Veerashaiva saint Shree Kadsiddeshwar in the 12th century.

TheĀ shivalinga is also known as “Shri Veerupakshalinga.” The holy temple is part of the endowment trust math and belongs to the Brahmin and Veershaiva communities. Srisaila Jagadguru Dr. Channasiddharam Panditaradhya Shivacharya Mahaswamiji is the current head of Math. The temple authorities carry out various religious and cultural activities and rituals in consultation with Kadsiddkeshwar math authorities on various festivals throughout the year.

He is believed to be Shiva himself in a ferocious form and is also held as a Shiva Gana, the commander of Shiva. Generally, a valiant hero is referred to as ā€˜Veera,ā€™ while ā€˜Bhadraā€™ means a friend. Shiva is said to have taken this fearful form to destroy the fire sacrifice of Daksha Prajapati and quell his arrogance.
